Pitney Bowes Hazmat Code Mappings

This document provides an overview on Pitney Bowes Hazmat Class indicators and DesktopShipper.

What are Hazardous Goods Code Mappings?

Pitney Bowes has different classes of hazmat materials (dangerous goods). The purpose of classifying dangerous goods is to provide a standardized system for identifying substances or articles that pose a risk to people, property, or the environment.

The classification of dangerous goods is crucial for their safe transportation, storage, and handling. These classes have their own specific fields in DesktopShipper.

Column 1 of the table below shows the DesktopShipper internal code for different Hazmat classes.

Column 2 of the table below shows the standardized Pitney Bowes Hazmat class each DesktopShipper code corresponds to.

Note: The Hazmat information for an order being shipped with dangerous goods (Hazmat Materials) is sent from DesktopShipper to Pitney Bowes via API.
