How to integrate FedEx

FedEx Electronic Trade Document (ETD) Submission

FedEx ETD is a way to support not printing paper copies of commercial invoices. 
 
Requirements for ETD submission
 
1) You must have Electronic Trade Document (ETD) submission enabled for FedEx on your Cloud account as well as on your FedEx account.  
To Enable FedEx ETD please follow the steps below:

a) Call FedEx at 1-877-339-2774.  Have the meter number and address on hand in case the technician asks to confirm.

b) Ask the technician to Enable ETD upload of letterhead and Signature

c) The technician should be able to turn it on while on the phone call. If they try to recertify you they are looking at the wrong knowledge base. Ask for tier 2 FedEx support instead.  Once this is turned on, ask if there will be any waiting period before this feature can be used.
 
 
2) The ship-to country must support ETD
Enable ETD submission
 
Ask your DesktopShipper implementation contact to enable Electronic Trade Document submission on the cloud. ETD must also be enabled on your FedEx account.

3. Upload Custom Document Images
 
You can upload 1 custom Letterhead image and 1 custom Signature image for your FedEx account on the cloud.  These images can be as simple as using a script-like font in a word processing program for the name of the signee (for the signature) and company name and address (for the letterhead) - but must be in an image format.
 
Go to Settings > Carriers > Carrier Accounts and select your FedEx account. 
 
Click the Custom Images button (picture icon) in the upper-right corner.  A new modal window should pop up.

Click the plus button to add a new custom document image.

In the new row that appears, click the select image button (picture icon) to choose an image file from your local device. 
The image must be a .png.jpg, or .gif file, and cannot be over 50 x 700 pixels.  
 
Once your image is selected, give your file a name and select the correct fields from the dropdowns.

Click the upload button at the right end of the row to upload the document image file. 
 
If you receive an Authentication Failed Error this means your account has not been approved by FedEx.

4. Create your International Form Settings

In your Carrier Settings under FedEx there is a globe icon to set your terms of sale and your shipment purpose for your international shipments. 

Delivery Duty Unpaid (DDU): The receiver is responsible for paying duties and taxes.

Deliver Duty Paid (DDP): The sender is responsible for paying duties and taxes.

FedEx defines the shipment purposes as follows;

"Commercial: Any shipment being sold or sent free of charge, from one business entity to another, for the purpose of being re-sold or otherwise consumed in the course of carrying out its business.

Gift: Any shipment containing articles to be given as an unsolicited gift, from one private individual to another private individual, which are not being shipped by a business nor consigned to a business.

Sample: Any shipment containing articles which are sent free of charge that have been marked or mutilated or otherwise made unsuitable for sale or use except as commercial samples, being shipped with the view of soliciting an order or as a mock-up to furthering an existing order from the foreign entity.

Return and Repair: Articles being shipped for repair or articles previously exported for repairs which are being returned following the repair.

Personal Effects: Any shipment containing used personal articles such as unaccompanied baggage and household goods being shipped for relocation.
