Carrier Specific Packaging

The document provides an overview of carrier specific packaging.

Some carrier services are tied to specific package types provided by the carrier. This is useful for customers who obtain special flat rate pricing, but use of carrier packaging is required to qualify.

Examples:

  • USPS Priority Mail envelopes and boxes
  • UPS Express paks
  • FedEx One Rate services
FedEx One Rate requires that the FedEx package type be added to the shipment prior to rating. It will not return the One Rate pricing without the packaging.

Note: Customers using FedEx One Rate will typically create custom carrier codes in DS Cloud using the FedEx packaging as the service default. This will apply the package type each time the service is used for a shipping.

Carrier specific packaging is built into DS Cloud and is available to add to a shipment through the drop-down list.
